THE FULL STORY

The Rolling Chef: A journey of passion, adventure, and flavour

It all began back in 2007 when I started working at a tapas restaurant in my hometown. The experience was groundbreaking as it introduced me to a whole new world of flavors, from sushi to lobster and gamba's. But it wasn't just the food that made an impact; it was the close-knit, streamlined team that inspired me to embark on my culinary journey.

Throughout my college years in Amsterdam, I continued to explore various kitchens, gaining experience in the industrial cooking environment and working at a New York Bistro. After completing my BA in Business & Administration, I made a decision to follow my true passion. Rather than getting an office job I joined Restaurant Vandermarkt, a French fine dining establishment. I had the opportunity to work under the guidance of Jean-Joel, an exceptional chef who once led Restaurant Cristophe, maintaining a Michelin star for over a decade. Learning from Jean-Joel opened my eyes to the art of creativity in balancing the five main flavors and introduced me to new cooking techniques and process management systems for kitchen excellence.

In 2017, I set out on a life-changing journey to travel the world and immerse myself in different cultures and their cuisines. For 15 months, I explored countries like Germany, Poland, Russia, Mongolia, Nepal, Indonesia, New-Zealand, and Vietnam. These travels not only taught me about diverse cultures but also the profound connection between people and food. It became clear that some of the best moments in life revolve around events where food plays a central role.

Many valuable life lessons came from my adventures, but the most significant realization was the central role food played when connecting to other people, especially in larger groups.  It's during these moments of shared meals that friendships are forged, and unforgettable memories are created.

Through The Rolling Chef, I bring together my passion for flavors, my experience in various cuisines, and my love for connecting people through food. My aim is to create memorable dining experiences that help create quality relationships.
